Matt Goodwin: “Hannah Spencer is reading off a script”.

Reform UK’s Gorton and Denton by-election candidate, Matt Goodwin, has accused his Green Party rival, Hannah Spencer, of “reading off a script” during the recent hustings, in an exclusive interview with Roch Valley Radio.

Goodwin made the claim as part of his reasoning for challenging Spencer to a one on one debate in the run up to polls opening this Thursday 26th February.

Spencer has responded to the allegation, saying that: “I think they’re (Reform) not used to people who speak from the heart.” She added, “I’ve seen people living in dire, dire circumstances through no fault of their own. If to them that seems scripted because it’s something they can’t believe , they need to get out on the ground”.

Spencer said that Reform needed to do jobs like hers as a plumber if they were to understand and see the people “who keep our country growing”, or to understand the experience of ordinary people.

In the interview, Goodwin also responded to Labour’s Angeliki Stogia, who mocked him during recent hustings hosted by the Manchester Evening News. Upon his arrival, Stogia addressed Goodwin by saying “Welcome to Manchester.”

Goodwin criticised Stogia for her comment, detailing his family’s connections to Salford, whilst also bringing up that Stogia was born and raised far away from Manchester- in Greece.
