A woman has suffered injuries after being bitten by her own dog, prompting an armed police response in the Spotland area of Rochdale.
Armed officers were called to Marlborough Street in Spotland just before midday, today, Sunday 29 June, following reports of a dog attack.
Emergency services, including multiple police vehicles and paramedics from the North West Ambulance Service, attended the scene at around 11.41am.
Greater Manchester Police later confirmed this afternoon, that an American Bulldog was seized after the animal bit its owner. The woman sustained minor injuries, and no further medical update has been released.
Residents on the street speaking to Roch Valley Radio reported an emergency services presence and said that the dog had been taken away, with armed units among the first responders.
No arrests have been made, and police have not confirmed whether any criminal investigation is ongoing. The incident appears to involve a domestic pet rather than a stray or illegally owned animal.
The dog is now in the custody of GMP while further enquiries continue.
Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact GMP via their non-emergency number 101.
