Eleven students secure Oxford and Cambridge offers

Credit: Submitted

Eleven students at a Rochdale Sixth Form have secured offers to study at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge following one of the most competitive admissions processes in higher education.

The offers follow months of preparation, written entrance examinations and detailed interviews. Places at both universities are awarded to applicants who demonstrate sustained academic performance and strong subject knowledge.

Seven students have received offers from the University of Cambridge. Joseph Ogunbo plans to study Natural Sciences Biology. Erin Worden has been offered a place in Linguistics. Amelie Sargent has secured an offer for Modern and Medieval Languages. Pip Sheldon will study Music. Scarlett Davis has been accepted for Archaeology. Gabby Ogden will study Natural Sciences Physics. Charlotte Hatfield has received an offer for English Literature.

A spokesperson said:

We are incredibly proud to congratulate eleven exceptional students who have secured offers to study at the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge, two of the most prestigious and competitive universities in the world.

These students have demonstrated not only outstanding academic attainment throughout their time at college but also the resilience - ambition and intellectual curiosity required to succeed in one of the most demanding admissions processes nationally and internationally.

Gaining an Oxbridge offer requires applicants to stand out against the very strongest students through rigorous entrance examinations and challenging interviews, and this achievement is a testament to their dedication and hard work.

Four students have secured offers from the University of Oxford. Subhan Mahar plans to study Physics. George Holt has been accepted for Materials Science. Summer Taylor and Hannah Wilkinson have both been offered places to study Biochemistry.

Offers from Oxford and Cambridge are typically conditional on final examination results. Applicants are assessed through academic records, admissions tests and subject-specific interviews.
