UPDATE: As of 13:40pm, Police and staff have ensured that the school is safe and all staff and learners are returning to the building.
Matthew Moss High School received a 'threatening message' over email today, which resulted in the school undergoing a full evacuation as a safety precaution. Students were taken over the road to Springfield Park and held near the tennis courts.
MMHS, which is part of the Watergrove Trust within Rochdale, issued social media announcements to parents confirming that Greater Manchester Police were called in shortly after a message which was announced over the school's public address system.
The statement on social media read;
Matthew Moss High School have received a threatening message by email and have evacuated the school as a precaution. All learners and staff are safe and the police are in attendance
"Please do not travel to the school at this time to allow police and staff to manage the situation."
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester police said:
At around 12noon today (Monday 29 April), officers received reports of a threat being made towards a school on Matthew Moss Lane, Rochdale.
Officers have conducted a search of the school and found no threat to the school or wider area.
