Proud moment for Middleton students as Cardinal Langley posts standout A-level results

Dozens of Cardinal Langley Sixth Form students in Middleton are celebrating strong A-level and BTEC results this year, with many heading to their first-choice universities.

There were cheers, hugs and proud moments at Cardinal Langley Sixth Form today as students opened their long-awaited A-level and vocational results.

The school has reported another successful year, with more than four in ten A-level entries awarded grades A* to B. Meanwhile, 68% of BTEC qualifications were marked at either Distinction or the top-level Distinction Star.

This year’s results also show an improvement in students’ average UCAS point scores, with the majority now securing their preferred university offers.

Headteacher Andrew Bridson praised students not only for their academic effort but also for their wider contributions to school life, including volunteering, Duke of Edinburgh awards and community outreach.

“These results reflect two years of hard work, dedication and ambition,” he said. “We’re proud of every student, whether they’re going on to university, apprenticeships, or work. It’s been a collective effort, supported by our fantastic staff and the parents and carers who’ve been with them every step of the way.”

Success stories from this year’s cohort include:

John, who achieved two A*s and an A, will study Aerospace Engineering at The University of Manchester
Obesi secured two A*s and two As and is set to study MORSE (Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics) at the University of Warwick
Rhea will begin a Psychology degree at The University of Manchester after earning an A* and two As
Lauren, with two As and a B, is also heading to Manchester to study Neuroscience and Psychology
Thomas is joining Loughborough University for Sport and Exercise Science after achieving two As and a B
Dhiya, who achieved an A and three Bs, will study Medicine at Newcastle University
Olivia earned an A and two Bs and will study History at Manchester
Katie, who completed a BTEC with a Distinction Star, a Distinction and a B, will move on to study Fashion Marketing at Manchester Metropolitan
Poppy is going to Lancaster University to study Media after securing a Distinction Star, a Distinction and a C

Others celebrating success include:

Madeleine (A*, Distinction Star, B) – Architecture at The University of Manchester
Joseph (two As and a B) – University of Leeds
Wiktoria (two As and Distinction Star) – Apprenticeship at KPMG
Jennifer (A and two Bs) – University placement not disclosed
Zofia (A, B, C and D) – University of Salford
Shams (A, B, C) – Structural Engineering at Manchester

Several students also achieved top grades in BTEC subjects. Teigan, Jack, Louis, Bailey, Mara, Arrayah, Zuzanna and Alfie each secured a Distinction Star in one of their courses.
