Remembrance events to honour our fallen across Bury

Services, wreath layings and parades to mark Armistice and Remembrance Sunday in Bury and surrounding areas.

Communities across the borough will unite to honour the service and sacrifice of the Armed Forces as Remembrance Sunday is marked with parades, wreath-laying ceremonies and church services.

Events are planned in Bury, Prestwich, Radcliffe, Ramsbottom, Tottington, Unsworth, Walshaw and Whitefield, with a separate Armistice Day ceremony taking place in Gallipoli Garden outside the Fusilier Museum.

An additional commemorative event titled 'Bury Remembers' will also take place in the lead-up to the weekend, offering an evening of reflective performances and spoken word at Bury Parish Church.

The remembrance events aim to bring people together to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in service to the country, as well as veterans and serving personnel.

Remembrance Sunday – 9 November 2025

Here is a breakdown of the services and parades confirmed across the borough:

Bury (10:30–14:00): Parade and wreath-laying from Knowsley Street, via Haymarket Street and Market Street, to the Cenotaph and Bury Parish Church. A reception will follow at the Elizabethan Suite.
Prestwich (10:45–11:30): Parade and Act of Remembrance from Rectory Lane to the War Memorial by PADOS House.
Radcliffe (10:45–13:30): Parade and wreath laying from the Royal Oak to the Cenotaph, followed by a service at St Thomas’s Church and return march to the Royal Oak.
Ramsbottom (10:30–12:30): Parade and service from the Royal British Legion to St Paul’s Church and back.
Tottington (14:00–16:00): Parade from Harwood Road to the War Memorial and on to St Anne’s Church via Market Street for a remembrance service.
Unsworth (10:50–11:30): Wreath-laying ceremony at the Parr Lane Cenotaph.
Walshaw (10:45–11:15): Wreath-laying at the Parr Lane Cenotaph.
Whitefield (10:00–11:30): Service and wreath-laying at the Cenotaph, followed by a service at All Saints’ Church.

Armistice Day – Tuesday 11 November 2025

A short ceremony will be held at Gallipoli Garden, outside the Fusilier Museum in Bury town centre, to mark the moment the guns fell silent in 1918.

Bury Remembers – 4 November 2025

In the days leading up to Remembrance Sunday, residents are invited to a special community evening titled ‘Bury Remembers’ at Bury Parish Church from 7pm to 8.15pm (doors open at 6.30pm).

The evening will feature performances from:

Bury Fire Choir
Bury Music Service
Bury Army Cadet Force Corps of Drums
Bury Youth Service
