Rochdale curry house celebrates national award nomination from ‘Curry Oscars’

A Rochdale takeaway is celebrating after being shortlisted in a prestigious national food awards ceremony dubbed the “Curry Oscars” by industry insiders.

Indialicious, based in Rochdale, has been named a finalist in the Regional Takeaway of the Year category at the Asian Restaurant and Takeaway Awards (ARTA) 2025.

The awards, which spotlight the best of the UK’s pan-Asian cuisine, are among the most coveted accolades in the industry.

Owner Mohammed Miah, speaking exclusively to Roch Valley Radio, said, the nomination was a proud moment for his team and the community they serve.

“We’ve been nominated! This nomination means so much to us because it comes directly from you, our amazing customers,” he said.
“Your support, love for our food, and kind words have brought us here, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Thank you for making us part of your dining experiences and your hearts.”

The annual ARTA awards are driven by public nominations, with over 1,300 restaurants and takeaways put forward this year. The ceremony, set for 6 October, will see top chefs, restaurateurs, MPs and celebrities gather in London to crown winners across a range of categories.

Rochdale will be represented not once but twice in the regional takeaway category, with River Beal Indian Takeaway also shortlisted. Both venues now have the chance to bring the trophy home to the borough.

Rochdale’s wider Asian food scene is also being recognised. In the North West restaurant category, three more local names, Thamin and Wild Ginger in Littleborough, and Venus Lounge Restaurant in Heywood, have also been shortlisted.

The ARTA founder and CEO Mohammed Munim praised the role of Asian restaurants and takeaways in British life.

“Every nominee is a testament to the industry’s resilience,” he said. “Their contribution through job creation, community impact and culinary excellence deserves to be recognised.”
