One of Rochdale’s most iconic buildings is set to swap chandeliers for disco balls as it welcomes families to a high energy rave this autumn.
Rochdale Town Hall will be transformed into a family-friendly dance floor for one afternoon only as it partners with Big Fish Little Fish to host a full-scale family rave. The event takes place on Sunday 14 September 2025 at 2pm in the building’s Great Hall.
Organisers are promising live DJ sets, colourful lighting effects and craft activities aimed at children and their grown-ups, all within the Grade I listed landmark.
The event is part of the Town Hall’s wider community engagement programme, designed to offer a fresh take on cultural spaces and broaden access to its historic venue. A designated chill-out area will be available for families looking for a break from the music.
Victoria Hilton, Heritage Engagement Manager at Rochdale Town Hall, said: “This is a brilliant opportunity for families to experience the Town Hall in a completely new way. We’re excited to welcome children, parents and grandparents for a day filled with music, laughter, and dancing together in our spectacular Great Hall.”
Big Fish Little Fish is a nationally known organisation that produces family rave events designed to bring all generations together on the dancefloor. Their unique mix of club-style music with family-oriented fun has made them popular across the UK.
Tickets are now on sale, and demand is expected to be high following the popularity of other recent family events hosted at the Town Hall. Organisers are advising early booking to avoid disappointment.
The event complements other family-focused initiatives in the borough, including recent government-backed investments such as the £1.31 million Start for Life programme, which aims to strengthen family support services in the area.
