The two men who tragically lost their lives in the Heaton Park Synagogue attack have been named locally as Adrian Daulby and Melvin Cravitz, as police continue their investigation.

Two much-loved members of Greater Manchester’s Jewish community have been named as the victims of Thursday’s fatal attack at Heaton Park Congregation Synagogue.

Whilst formal identification has not yet been completed, police believe the victims to be 53-year-old Adrian Daulby and 66-year-old Melvin Cravitz, both from Crumpsall.

Family Liaison Officers are working closely with their loved ones, providing updates and support as the investigation continues.

Home Office post-mortems are due to take place later this morning.

Detective Chief Superintendent Lewis Hughes, who is leading the casualty response, said:

"My deepest sympathies are with Mr Daulby and Mr Cravitz’s loved ones at this extremely hard time. Specially trained Family Liaison Officers are in contact with them. They will continue to update them on the investigation and support them throughout the coronial process.

“Whilst there are processes which must be followed, we commit to being mindful of cultural preferences and sensitivities and to ensuring that these men and their loved ones’ wishes are respected.”

The synagogue community has been left in shock following the attack, with tributes expected to be paid in the coming days. Police enquiries remain ongoing.
